My college major resolution
Guest post written by Annette Douglas
I've only been in college for one semester, but I'm already really worried about graduating on time. See, I still haven't figured out what I'm going to major in so I'm kind of taking regular old general requirement classes and electives blindly. But I've made a New Year's resolution to figure out my major this semester so I can start taking classes that are requirements for it.
So I spent a lot of my winter break at home looking up information about degree majors and what exactly I could do with them. While I was doing that I randomly found some CLEAR INTERNET prices that seemed really good, so I showed them to my parents and they switched over our home internet service to that provider.
I hope that I can actually achieve my college New Year's resolution in the next couple of months so I can register for classes for the fall and maybe even summer that will help me toward whatever major I choose. IÕm kind of thinking about education, but I might settle on psychology and become a school psychologist instead.

Word World: Bricks for Building Language Skills
Guest post from: Jerald Hammond
Imagine that you live in a world filled with letters - lots of them. The house you live in is shaped like the letters H-O-U-S-E all smashed together. But that's only the beginning. Word World is filled with letters that form objects and beings. That's why Word World is my favorite children's educational programming.
I regularly sit down with my kids to watch Word World on satellite TV that we got after seeing this Direct TV comparison to see what crazy antics the main characters - Dog, Duck, Sheep, Frog, and Pig - are doing while they teach children about putting letters together to form words.
Whether kids are starting to recognize letters or beginning to read, Word World teaches the fundamentals of the English language and basic problem solving skills.
Each episode features one of the main characters in a situation that needs to be fixed.
For instance, Duck was invited to a sleepover, but he wasn't comfortable sleeping in a regular bed. After some trial and error, the other characters helped Duck come up with a solution to make him more comfortable. Duck's friends found the letters N-E-S-T, put them together, and made a cozy nest for Duck to sleep in.
The show taught my kids to recognize words before starting school. Without a doubt, Word World gets high marks from me.
