Helping the Weak

What is our definition of "helping the weak?" Do we think that we have done our duty by sending s donation to charities and social welfare organizations? Have we established a comfort zone in our giving? Has the way we define "weak " been limited to only the materially distressed, leaving out those in spiritual or emotional pain?
