IS YOUR BABY GETTING ENOUGH MILK?
I want to share with you some facts about breastfeeding that I learned from the books I read.
During the first few days after birth the baby may not nurse vigorously at each feeding. Output is the greatest indicator of intake in the breastfed baby. The first day the baby may only have one wet diaper and one soiled diaper, followed the second day by two of each. The third day when your milk begins to “come in” the baby’s wet and soiled diapers will increase. The color of soiled diapers will also change. At first the stools will be black and tarry, then change to greenish black, brown and finally yellow and seedy. These yellow seedy stools are a sign that your baby is getting lots of breast milk.
