As popularly known, Tinikling is the national dance of the Philippines. It is where you hop between bamboos. This dance originated in Leyte of the Visayan Island where these ‘Itik” birds mostly dwell. It is an imitation of the movements of these itik birds hopping between grasses, branches of trees, or the bamboo traps made by farmers to catch the birds. The dance shows the legendary grace and speed dancing between bamboo poles. In English, Tinikling means bamboo dance. It is indeed an experience to try this dance.
