It was never my dream to become a Certified Public Accountant. It was my mother’s dream for me to become one. My dream was to become a civil engineer but my mom opposed the idea. She forced me to take up accountancy in college because, as she said, it has a larger market when it comes to employment. And so I pursued the course even if I didn’t really want to take it. And with God’s grace, I was able to finish the course.

After graduation, I immediately took up the review classes in preparation for the board exam. I did not really want to take the board exam but again, my mother forced me to take the review and have that dreaded exam. Some of my friends are not that fortunate to take the review. And true to what my mom said, the market demand for accountants is very high. My friends who are not able to have review classes accepted bookkeeping services to earn income.

Now, I am very happy and I never regretted my decision of following my mom’s judgment. Fortunately, I passed the board exam and I landed a very elite job in a billion worth company. At times, I could really say that mother’s knows best.
